Spring 2 Term
Year 5 have visited the City Central Library for a Reading for Pleasure session with a librarian. The children listened to stories, explored the book shelves and were given library cards. The children are welcome to visit the library and use their cards. The cards will allow them to borrow two books or parents can upgrade the cards to allow them up to twenty books.
They took part in ‘Stepping Out’ to learn how to become safer, more mature pedestrians. They were assessed on how confident and safely they walked on a planned route.
Year 5 have been looking at abstract art and Surrealism. They have painted in the style of Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and then created their own abstract canvases that lots of people wanted to buy! They used various methods of applying paint and produced some fantastic work.
Year 5 were lucky enough to have a lesson about dental hygiene, they learnt about the dentist, teeth and how to care for them properly. They also found out which foods and drinks were not great for dental hygiene.
This leaflet shows the overview of what your child is expected to learn by the end of their current year group. These are the minimum requirements to ensure continued progress through the following years.
