Year 2

Welcome to the
Owls and Robins

Year 2 Teachers - Mr Williams & Miss Mulliner

Support Staff - Ms Latif & Mrs Parkin

Learning at Home
We expect all children to read their reading book at home at least three times a week to support their learning. Children should also access their 'TT Rockstars' for at least 15 minutes three times a week.

Each year group will also have six 'Teach Your Parent' activities per term linked to their wider curriculum learning. These are to enrich your child's wider knowledge and support you with further learning at home and are optional to complete.

This spring term has been a fantastic one for our Year 2 Owls and Robins!

We enjoyed a brilliant visit to Biddulph Grange Gardens as part of our science topic on plants. The children explored a wide variety of trees, including monkey puzzle trees, oak trees, cedars, yew trees, redwoods, pines and silver birch. They also spotted lots of spring flowers such as snowdrops, daffodils, tulips and primroses. A highlight of the day was exploring the stunning Egyptian Gardens.

During the trip, we discussed seeds and bulbs and revisited our Year 1 learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. It was a wonderful chance for the children to apply their knowledge outdoors and enjoy nature. They had a fantastic day!

We also celebrated World Book Day during the week beginning 2nd March. The children loved taking part in our Reading Breakfast, sharing books with their parents to start the day. They completed Book Bingo, read many of the books on the challenge list and created fantastic story shoeboxes for our competition.
A highlight was an online workshop with author David O’Connell, all about his book Slugtastic. The children were inspired and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It has been a wonderful half-term filled with learning, creativity and lots of excitement!
