Early Years Curriculum Aim

‘When we succeed in giving every child the best start in their early years, we give them what they need today. We also set them up with every chance of success tomorrow.’

In EYFS at Forest Park our aim is to create happy, lifelong learners. Through our ambitious, holistic curriculum we secure the foundations for both positive learning behaviours and knowledge that our children will need to succeed.

In the EYFS we develop a broad and balanced curriculum which takes into account the cultural capital of our children. Our curriculum is ambitious and progressive for all learners. The curriculum spine is a variety of focus texts that cluster around a theme. Children learn through the different elements of the provision pyramid. Adult focused activities provide children with the specific knowledge they need and this is then applied through enhancements within the provision that are carefully planned to support children to embed their knowledge. This runs alongside high quality continuous provision in a calm, well resourced and planned environment. We encourage children to follow their interests and develop independence by making links through the provision. At Forest Park we make the ‘Super Six’ promise, as our curriculum is built around high quality texts. Each Term children in our EYFS children will focus closely on six key texts that will support their foundation knowledge across all subject areas. This allows our children to leave EYFS with secure and deep knowledge of 33 key texts and their corresponding tier 1,2 and 3 vocabulary.
