RE
RE Curriculum Aim
Religious Education has a significant role for the development of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs and encourages pupils to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. The principle aim of RE is to engage pupils in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions and worldviews in the local, national and wider global community.
At Forest Park, RE is an essential part of the curriculum as it enables children to open their minds to different beliefs and practices of people who live around the world. RE is taught in a way which promotes and reflects the diversity of our school community. As a school, we have decided to focus on three world religions, which are: Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. This approach allows the children to build on their knowledge each year and provides children with a detailed and comprehensive insight to each religion. Children are then able to look at similarities and differences between different religions building on their prior knowledge and also reflecting on their personal beliefs.
