Geography
Geography Curriculum Aim
At Forest Park, our geography curriculum is designed to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world we live in and its people. Geography helps to provoke and provide answers to questions about the physical and human aspects of the world. Studying geography will enable children to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. The curriculum has been created to be relevant to the children’s own lives and experiences of the world.
Here at Forest Park, we aspire to nurture our children to GROW in geography. We intend for our children to be like a strong forest with expanding and strengthening geographical roots throughout their school journey with us. We want to create pupils who:
- Generate an incremental knowledge through the use of knowledge organisers throughout their school years. Compare similarities and differences between an assortment of differing places, individuals, natural, physical and human environments.
- Remember and re-visit learning through recurrent themes so that knowledge and understanding becomes embedded in children’s long term memory.
- Observe, engage and investigate enquiry type questions that interest and inspire children to find out more about the world.
- Welcome opportunities to learn through visits and experiences and explore information.
